With the end of summer approaching and autumn well on its way, I thought now would be a good time to compile a list of fun weekend activities. Personally, autumn is my favourite time of the year, but I know a lot of people don’t feel that way. Just because you can’t spend your Saturday afternoon lazing by the pool or at an outdoor music festival doesn’t mean you have to have a boring weekend though, here are some ideas to enjoy your weekend (without breaking the bank):
Try out a new recipe. Weekends are perfect for this because you can really take your time, and baking anything with pumpkin is sure to lift your spirits.
Host a movie night. Chilly nights are great for hosting a movie night. You can pick a theme or have a few friends bring along their favourite. At home movie nights are great because you can chat throughout the film and you’re not limited to movie theatre snacks.
Host a game night. Game nights are so much fun to have; it’s really not as lame as it sounds. My favourite include: Scattegories, Taboo, and Pictionary.
Go for a hike. Fall is such a pretty time of year, so taking a hike is a great way to see all the pretty colours and get some exercise in too.
Go window shopping. Admittedly, this isn’t as fun as a shopping spree, but it can give you inspiration for the things already in your closet.
Go for a drive. I love getting a coffee and going for a country drive in the fall to see all the pretty trees. Something about it is so relaxing and it’s a fun way to catch up with a friend.
Get coffee with a friend. One of my favourite autumn things are pumpkin spiced lattes. Visiting with a friend in a coffee shop is just as nice as getting dinner but much more affordable.
Read a book. I love reading, but in the summer this is an activity that often gets overlooked. Curling up in a cozy sweater with a good book is a great way to spend a chilly evening.
