A few months ago now I cut off a good chunk of my hair. Initially I loved it, then I missed my long hair, but now that some time has passed and I’ve learned how to style my new cut, I’m starting to love it again.
I’m someone who typically wears their hair down. Most days this is what I prefer, but it can still be nice to do something different every now and then. When I first got my hair cut I didn’t think I would be able to do much with it besides stick it in a ponytail, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I could actually still do.
Today I thought I would share with you guys my go-to hairstyles now that I’ve adjusted to my new length:
A bun. This was one of my favourite things to do with my long hair, so I was pretty thrilled when I was still able to do it. It took a bit of practice as I can’t wrap my hair around as many times, but it’s working for me. While it’s not as full as it used to be, I think it still looks nice and it’s great for when I need to get things done or for exercising.
Half ponytail. In school this was one of my favourite looks. I like to keep it a bit looser and secure the ponytail with a hair clip instead of a hair tie. I think this makes it look a bit more age appropriate and suits the length better.
Messy waves. To my delight, my natural waves moved up when I got my hair cut, so I am still able to wear my natural messy waves the same way I used to. I find that they can look a bit pouf-ier now that they aren’t as weighted down, but a little Bumble and Bumble Hair Dresser’s Oil works wonders for this.
Side Clip. As I mentioned above, I tend to wear my hair down. When I’m working though, I’m constantly pushing my bangs out of my face. Not only is this super annoying, but it can cause my bangs to look greasier than the rest of my hair much earlier. By clipping them off to the side, I can still wear my hair down but I don’t have to worry about my bangs getting in my eyes.
Curls. I love the look of curled hair but thought it wouldn’t look good with my new length. So long as I leave the curls looser rather than tighter I really like this look. I think I’ll be wearing it a lot over the holidays.
