While I’m more of a strobing girl for day-to-day makeup, I love a good contour for a night out. It really just takes your makeup to the next level and when done properly looks great. I tend to stick with powder when contouring, but after seeing so much hype surrounding contour sticks, I just had to give one a go.
In a recent Sephora order I purchased the Sephora Collection Highlight Lowlight Face Contour Duo. At $25 it falls on the lower end of the price scale and because it comes in 4 different shades, it seemed like the best option for me as that wasn’t the case with the other higher end ones.
I picked up the shade ’01 Light’ as I’m quite pale. This stick comes with a contour on one end and a highlight on the other making it a good value for the price.
I was really excited to give this a go; however it didn’t work well for me. The formula is quite nice, though. It’s a cream-to-powder which blends so nicely on the skin, but unfortunately the contour was a bit too orange for my skin tone. The highlight was really nice, but because I already own quite a few I am taking this back to Sephora to get something else.
While this product didn’t work for me, I still think it’s a really nice one for those who aren’t quite as fair as I am. Because it is in stick form, you are able to apply each product so precisely making it perfect for contour beginners. It also has great detailed instructions on the packaging to show you where to put each product. So if you have a darker complexion than me, or are new to contouring, I definitely recommend giving this a try!
Have you ever used contour sticks? Do you have any recommendations of other ones that might work better for light skin tones?
