Last week I ordered the Tarte ‘Light of the Party Collector’s Makeup Case’ from Sephora. I love Tarte as a brand and I’m a sucker for the holiday makeup sets, so I had to get one before they were gone. The palette is $71 but the set is a $474 value so it was definitely a good deal. In the palette you get 30 eye shadows, a bronzer, a blush, a highlight, a mini Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 mascara, and a double ended eye shadow brush all in a cute zip up sequined case.
There is a great variety of eye shadow colours and they all have cute, festive names. The palette contains a good mix of mattes and shimmers which is great! The pigment of the shadows isn’t quite as intense as some of the other Tarte shadows I’ve used in the past, but they do still have good pigmentation, especially with the use of an eyelid primer. The shadows go on nicely and blend really well together. I didn’t find there was too much fall out with these shadows either. I love that you can create such a variety of looks with this palette.
There is a mini palette that pops out of the top uncovering a decent sized mirror which is nice. The mini palette contains six of the eye shadows, the bronzer, blush, and highlight. It has a magnetic closing which makes it perfect for throwing in your handbag. The blush, bronzer, and highlight are all quite pigmented and last on the skin all day. The bronzer is pretty light which is great for girls with lighter complexions such as myself, but it could easily be built up to a darker shade.
The eye shadow brush is actually pretty decent for being in a kit, so I was pleased with that. I want to look into trying some other Tarte brushes as this was the first one I had tried.
I have heard great things about the mascara in this set so I was really excited to try it out. I love the packaging of it and I really liked the formula. My lashes look longer and fuller with this mascara and the wand was really nice to use.
Have you guys tried the Tarte holiday set? What did you think of it?
