Foundation is something I don’t mind splurging on. I’m picky about what I like and have a few high end ones that I use in rotation. When the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Foundation came out recently it had caught my eye and after reading some positive reviews about it, I decided to pick one up to test out.
I typically stay away from drugstore foundations because they don’t provide me with the coverage that I want and often the shades are either too pale or too dark. With 12 shades to choose from the range isn’t that extensive but I was able to find a good colour match for myself.
The foundation claims to improve your skin’s condition within three weeks of wearing it. I haven’t worn it for three straight weeks as I mix up my foundations depending on the day, so I can’t say whether or not that is true, but I can say that I was actually really impressed with this foundation.
It is medium to full coverage foundation, which doesn’t always mean anything with drugstore foundations in my opinion, but in this case it’s actually true. When applied with my Beauty Blender, I get a full coverage look without looking cakey or having the foundation feel heavy on my skin.
This foundation contains the antioxidant Actyl-C making it ideal for sensitive skin but still works well for all skin types. My dry skin looks and feels more hydrated and I’ve noticed little to no flaking while wearing this one. it does a great job of covering any spots or redness and leaves my skin looking bright and glowy.
The foundation claims to be long wearing, but I found it to last an average amount of time. It gets me through the work day just fine, but I would definitely want to touch it up if I had evening plans.
This foundation has started to change my opinion of drugstore foundations. If you’re in the market for a new foundation and are looking for something on the more affordable end of the spectrum, I would definitely recommend checking this one out.
