2016 was far from being my favourite year. While it had some really great moments, there were a lot of hard ones too. My blog grew even more, work was great, and I had some fun experiences. On the other hand I lost a really good friend, more of my friends moved away, and I didn’t accomplish anywhere near what I wanted to.
This year I’ve tried to set more realistic, attainable goals. I think goals are really important and I really tried to be specific with them instead of opting for more vague goals like ‘lose weight’.
As I reflect on the past year and what went wrong with it, I’m determined to make 2017 a better year! Here are my goals for the year ahead:
It’s not that I’m ungrateful; I definitely appreciate everything I have but when I get upset that things aren’t going the way I want it’s very easy for me to forget about all the good. One of the big stressors in my life lately has been that I still live with my parents. I feel like I’ve failed because I haven’t been able to afford to leave home yet so instead of getting stressed about it, I want to focus on how grateful I am to have a home and just keep working toward my goal of having my own place. I want to do this with everything I stress about. Things will always go wrong or not according to plan, but there is still so much to be grateful for, and I want to be more mindful of that in 2017.
Pay down my debt
One of the main reasons I haven’t yet moved out is because I have some debt. In 2017 I want to focus on paying down my credit card and car loan so it’s not such a burden on me. I’d also like to work at rebuilding my savings account.
Create more lifestyle content
Beauty content will always be a large part of Lipstick & Confetti and I’m definitely not going to stop creating it, but I do want to create more lifestyle content this year and let you guys get to know me a little better.
Continue to grow my blog
My blog turns 2 next month and while it’s nowhere near as successful as I’d like it to one day be, it’s come a long way and I hope it continues to grow throughout 2017. Blogging is something I genuinely love to do and has provided me with some really incredible opportunities thus far, so I’m excited to see where it takes me in 2017.
Find a fitness routine I actually enjoy
I do want to lose weight this year, but I hate working out. I want to love it but I find it so boring. This year I want to find a routine that I actually enjoy and can stick with.
I’m really determined to make 2017 a year to remember. Have you set any goals or resolutions for the new year?
