Drinking enough water has so many benefits for our bodies but is something I struggle with. Some days I get more than enough water and other days hardly any.
I’ve been working hard to try and get my water intake where it should be every day, especially since getting back into gym mode. I have come up with some tips that have really been helping me and thought I would share them with you today:
Flavour your water. Sometimes midday I’m craving something with more flavour and can be tempted to grab something sugary to drink. By making flavoured water at home, I get the flavour I’m craving without all of the calories. My favourite combination right now is mint and lime.
Take water with you. I am much more likely to drink water if I have it with me. I find the Brita water bottles to be super helpful with this. Each bottle comes in a variety of colours and has a a water filter in the straw to purify the water as you drink. The classic Brita Bottle* (pictured above) is my favourite to take on a walk or to the gym. Its vibrant green shade is super fun and is easy to drink from during a work out.
The 700 mL Hard-Sided Bottle* is my go-to for running errands. It’s a great size and the pink shade is so pretty.
The 1L Hard-Sided Bottle* is my favourite to take to work. I can get really busy at the office so by having a big bottle I’m more likely to drink more water if I don’t have to keep getting up to refill the bottle.
Log it. I find tracking my water intake in my Fitbit app helps me visualize where I’m at with my daily goal and allows me to see how much further I have to go before I achieve it. I like Fitbit for a variety of things, but I’m sure there are lots of other apps to help log your water intake as well.
Don’t allow yourself any other beverages until you’ve hit your goal. With the exception of my morning coffee, I don’t allow myself to drink anything else besides water until I’ve reached my goal. Often times I only end up drinking water, but I feel a lot less guilty having a lemonade if I know I’ve had enough water for the day.
How do you make sure you get enough water in a day? I’d love to hear your tips down below!
